ND Leader Mitsotakis: Gov't Must Implement Immediately the National Plan on Migration

The images of disaster and anarchy in Mytilene and Chios certify the government’s inefficiency to deal with the migration issue, stated New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Mitsotakis said six months ago at a meeting with the President of the Republic political leaders agreed on a national plan for the management of the migration problem.
“Everyone is aware that I did everything to support, inside and outside Greece, the country’s interests, but the government did not respect its commitments” said the main opposition leader.
The migrants were not separated from the refugees and the hosting centers are in complete anarchy, there is an unreasonable delay in asylum request procedures resulting into the delay in readmission to Turkey, said Mitsotakis adding that there is no comprehensive plan for the allocation of the refugees in the country.
The ND party president also mentioned that the state is absent and the refugee issue gives rise to xenophobic and extreme trends that still remain at low levels in a society that accepted the refugees with kindness and understanding.
As long as this government has the authority, it must immediately implement the national plan for refugees with ND’s proposals. This plan safeguards a life with dignity for the refugees, readmission to Turkey for the undocumented migrants, as well as safety and health for Greek citizens, concluded Mitsotakis.
