Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his close aides and members of cabinet discussed the current review of Greece’s program during a meeting on Monday. Government sources discussed the review and noted that the omnibus bill of outstanding prior actions was required for Greece to receive a sub-tranche of loans benchmarked for the country. The omnibus bill will include sweeping legislation on various issues, including a draft bill relating to the civil aviation authority.
An extension has been given for other issues not included in the two draft bills to be completed at a later date so that they do not affect the first review and so that the green light for the disbursement of 2.8 billion euros can be given. The government decided that pending issues with the Church of Greece were not of immediate concern.
The TV license tender for four nationwide TV channels was also discussed, with the reiteration of Tsipras’ statements during a recent SYRIZA party Central Committee meeting regarding the elimination of parties that fail to produce the required sums. The deputies said that the process would continue as normal and the next runner-up – in this case Ivan Savvidis – proceeding to submit wealth statements for an inspection and pay a third of the total price for a TV license within 15 days.
