Try Wine-Tasting at Metsovo, an Experience Like No Other

Metsovo, a traditional town perched on Mount Pindos in the Epirus region, is known as an ideal destination all year round offering a wide range of tastes and experiences. The area is particularly known for its cheese products, spearheaded by the rise of local Metsovone cheese in the Fifties as well as its eclectic wines from Greece’s highest vineyards that make wine-tasting in the region a must for visitors. Don’t forget to make a wine-tasting reservation at the Katogi Averoff Hotel & Winery, member of Aria Hotels, a place where art, tradition and discreet luxury co-exist. The usual wine fare is taken up a notch on October 1 with a unique taste sensation offered by sommelier Maria Dimou.

A unique opportunity is given to taste different labels, starting with the popular Katogi Averoff and moving towards the new range of wines, known as Inima, which means “‘soul” in the local Vlach dialect. Compare the old and new crops and the best is left until last – the limited edition Rossiu di Munte Yiniets that comes from the first Cabernet Sauvignon crops brought to Metsovo by distinguished politician, writer and inspirer of the “contemporary miracle of Metsovo” Evangelos Averoff in 1958-1959.

Apart from the wine tasting, there are video projections that explain the history of the winery that also operates a wine bar and an exceptional boutique with products and accessories for wine as well as a range of local delicacies, books on wine and winemaking, and guides to the local area. Cost of this Special Wine Tasting Event is at 20 euros (Call 26560 31490 for a reservation).
