Two Brazilian nationals were arrested by the Greek police for attempting to smuggle 2.240 kilograms of cocaine through security at Eleftherios Venizelos Athens International Airport. The man, aged 24, and his female companion, aged 27, landed in Athens from Sao Paolo via Zurich.

They attempted to smuggle through the cocaine that they had hidden in 212 small plastic bags that they had swallowed.

Police investigations found that the pair of suspects were part of a large drug trafficking ring that transferred cocaine into Greece from Latin America. The two suspects were taken to the Prosecutor of the Athens Court of Misdemeanours, and were in turn sent to the investigative magistrate.
