This past May, Greece’s Alternative Health Minister Pavlos Polakis forced three members of the managing board of the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) to resign.
On Tuesday, the Council of State ruled that Polakis’ actions were illegal and unconstitutional, upholding grievances and appeals by the three officials against the minister.
Minister Polakis is notorious for social media attacks on the press, accusing judges of being corrupt without presenting concrete evidence and has repeatedly been accused of allegedly removing medical staff at KEELPNO only to be replaced with his own appointees without following the proper hiring procedures.
