Attica Deputy Governor Throws Tsipras Poster in Recycle Bin

imagehandlerAttica Deputy Governor Giorgos Karameros, member of the Ecologist Greens party, was photographed throwing the Alexis Tsipras poster from the SYRIZA Conference in a recycle bin.
This was Karameros’ humorous response to criticism by New Democracy MP Adonis Georgiadis. The opposition party lawmaker had complained that the ecologists who belong to SYRIZA had no problem in flooding Athens with posters for their conference, thus polluting the environment.
To that, Georgiadis replied, “I’m glad that even with a little delay you understood where we need to “throw” Tsipras.”
Earlier, Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis had sent municipal cleaning crews to pull down hundreds of SYRIZA posters from poles and walls across the capital’s center.
“In order not to upset Adonis Georgiadis and Giorgos Kaminis seeing the face of Alexis Tsipras, we started recycling the posters,” Karameros wrote in Twitter.
The interaction between the two politicians started last week when Georgiadis wrote on Twitter addressing Karameros saying, “You as a deputy governor and an ecologist, what do you have to say about this pollution with posters?” To that Karameros had replied that SYRIZA had to put the posters up because television stations do not advertise the conference.
Georgiadis’ response on Twitter was, “So, if there is political gain, then it is OK to pollute the environment. Nice ecologist!”
