Andrey Proklonsky, a senior official of Group Energocenter, presented the proposal on the sidelines of the energy conference.
Moscow’s plans involve using Russian equipment in a detailed proposal for the financing and installation of Russia’s newer equipment. Sources report that he spoke with PPC chief Manolis Panayiotakis and handed over the detailed proposal.
Proklonsky later spoke to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini where he explained the proposal detailed upgrades and replacement of “aged equipment at eight PPC units – with a total capacity of 2 gigawatts – with state-of-the-art machinery,” the newspaper reported.
The Russian proposal comes on the heels of PPC planning strategic cooperation with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) on the exact same project. According to sources Proklonsky is not concerned about the Chinese competition.
