First Snowfall in Greece as Temperatures are Expected to Drop Below Zero

snow_GreeceThe first snowfall covered many mountainous and semi-mountainous areas in northern, central and southern Greece on Tuesday.
The national weather service has advised that temperatures are expected to drop below zero in the next few days in many parts of the mountainous regions.
Snow fellĀ in Florina and Kozani in western Macedonia during the morning and afternoon hours on Tuesday, as well as around Thessaloniki, without causing significant problems; even ParnithaĀ Mountain situated north of Athens saw its first snow in the afternoon.
In Crete, several crops were damaged after intense hail storm that fell earlier in the day in Heraklion.
