In a statement from Cyprus’ presidential palace it was announced that the U.S. Vice-President-elect, Mike Pence, has reached out to President Nicos Anastasiades in a phone call.
The call took place on Thursday and sources say that after President Anastasiades extended his congratulations to Pence, the two spoke about the Cyprus Issue and Anastasiades assured the incoming VP that the Greek-Cypriot goal is to reunify the island.
President Anastasiades also wished the new U.S. government success in the coming years and said that it is the will of the Cypriot government to strengthen ties between Cyprus and the U.S.
