Greek President: We Will Defend the 'Unswerving Implementation' of the Lausanne Treaty

Pavlopoulos
Greece is determined to defend the “unswerving implementation” of the Lausanne Treaty, President Prokopis Pavlopoulos said on Thursday during an event proclaiming him an honorary president of the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios Venizelos” in Chania, Crete.
Pavlopoulos reiterated that Greece does not claim anything that doesn’t belong to the country but rather “we’re not willing to concede one iota of what is, without a doubt, our national and European heritage.”
“On this principle, it is our duty to defend the unswerving implementation … of the great legacy left by Eleftherios Venizelos, the Lausanne Treaty,” he said, noting that the treaty represents European as well as Greek borders.
