tsipras-anastasiadesIn Brussels on Wednesday a meeting took place between Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras where the two leaders discussed their strategy for the Cyprus reunification talks which are scheduled to restart next month in Switzerland.
Both the Greek and Cypriot foreign ministers where also at the meeting and there were no statements given afterwards, although sources have reported that the meeting was to discuss security guarantees that the Greek side will instate as Cypriot talks go forward.
The reunification talks had come to an impasse last month when the two leaders involved in the talks, President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci could not come to an agreement over territory. Sources report that both sides will be presenting their respective territory maps on January 11 and the conference will convene from January 12 onward with no specific end date mentioned.
