‘Tsipourock’: Alexis Georgoulis Helps you Discover Authentic Greece on Social Media and Misirlou

Want to know where to go for a taste of authentic Greece? When in Athens, the place to visit is Misirlou, a new hangout in the Northern Suburb of Halandri where you will find an array of specialty Greek drinks as well as unique dishes to sample, sourced from fresh, local Greek products.

Named after the song from the early 1900s that has been reproduced in over 150 variations and different languages, Misirlou, meaning “Egyptian,” is the brainchild of actor and producer Alexis Georgoulis along with business partners Adam Papadakis and Costas Bertolis. It all began with a discussion on combining drink and food in an unforgettable manner…and the rest is history!

Experience Greek Fusion Like Never Before at Misirlou

The business partners set out to bring high quality and authentic Greek hospitality to a whole new level with Misirlou, as Alexis explained to Greek Reporter, “We wanted to create a place for people to go and offer dinner, mezes or tsiprou and spirits if you want a wilder night.”

Misirlou’s menu also offers many options to patriots such as specialty wines and a variety of flavors of rakomelo the chef has created exclusively to compliment mezes. “We have taken many dishes from many cultures and combined them to create a combination of Greek traditional food and fusion with around 150 dishes and variations,” Alexis said, adding, “what helps keep it traditional most is that we are buying our products from locals.”

Take a Trip to Greece with #Authentic Greece

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to Misirlou, thanks to Alexis you don’t need to come to Greece to get a sense of the natural beauty, food, culture and people of Greece. Instead, you can enjoy a glimpse of authentic Greece via social media!

He has teamed up with director/writer/composer Antonis Sotiropoulos to create unforgettable photos and videos at #Authentic Greece, where followers can tag-alongside Alexis on an unforgettable Greek road trip that showcases how Greece is much more than a victim of austerities and hard financial times, but rather a natural beauty.

Bringing a sense of the real, authentic Greece to people is a passion for Alexis as well as something he thoroughly enjoys. Even while working on his latest project as Spiros Hakaiopoulos in the second season of The Durrells television series on the UK’s ITV, he is still thinking about what his next move for #Authentic Greece will be and how he can show-off his beloved Greece to the world. “I believe that there is always positive and negative side to things,” he said, “and our duty to go to the positive side.”
