Registered Unemployed in Greece Exceed One Million

The barrier of one million unemployed was exceeded again in November as 28,713 more unemployed were registered during the month, OAED says.
According to new figures by the Manpower Employment Organization (OAED) in November, the number of registered unemployed increased by 3,5% compared to October and brought the total number of unemployed to 1,066,416 compared to 988,386 in September.
According to OAED, the increase in unemployment in November and October is related to the end of the summer tourist season.
The overwhelming majority of registered unemployed (913,044) say they are looking for work while the remaining 153,372 say they will stop looking for employment, but will remain registered.
From those looking for work, 485,787, (53.21%) are registered in OAED for a period equal to or longer than 12 months, with women constituting the majority (62.35%).
However, only one in ten registered in OAED receive unemployment benefits, specifically 118,631 people.
Regarding the age group, the highest percentage of registered unemployed is in the 30-44 years group (40.34%).
