New Poll Shows Conservative Party 6.3% Ahead of Leftist Ruling Party

New Democracy continues to lead over SYRIZA as a new opinion poll by Kappa Research shows the conservatives ahead by 6.3 percentage points.
The poll on behalf of Vima newspaper was published on Saturday and shows that 22.8 percent of respondents would vote for the conservative opposition and 16.5 for the leftist party.
Far-right Golden Dawn is in third place with 6.5 percent of potential vote, followed by PASOK at 5.5 percent and the Greek Communist Party (KKE) at 5.2 percent.
Centrist party To Potami at 1.8 percent, rightists Independent Greeks at 2.2 percent and the Centrists Union at 2.5 percent polled below the 3 percentage points needed to have parliamentary representation.
The majority of respondents (27.9 percent) said they are undecided as who to vote for.
Asked which party is more likely to win if elections were held soon, 61 percent of respondents said they believe New Democracy would win and 21 percent said SYRIZA.
Also, 23.5 percent of participants believe conservative leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis is more suitable for prime minister, compared to the 18 percent who support Alexis Tsipras.
Regarding snap elections, 40 percent believe that elections should be held soon, against 46 percent who said that the present government should be given more time.
Greeks appear to be divided on the euro currency, as 49.5 percent of respondents said they would like for Greece to remain in the common currency bloc. At the same time 47 percent said they would like a Grexit.
