The names of New Democracy president Kyriakos Mitsotakis and former prime minister Antonis Samaras, also member of the conservative party, were on the list of targets of arrested terrorist Paula Roupa.
As reported after the arrest of Roupa and her 25-year-old female accomplice, the counter terrorism unit found a hand-written note with over 50 names of potential targets. The names were not divulged at the time.
On Tuesday, Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas telephoned Mitsotakis and Samaras and informed them that their names were on the list found. The list also included names of politicians, well-known public organization executives and prominent businessmen and executives.
However, the notes and the names the counter-terrorism unit found do not constitute an attack plan. A similar list of names was found in 2014, when police had arrested Antonis Stamboulos, an accomplice of Paula Roupa and Nikos Maziotis in the Revolutionary Struggle terrorist organization.
