Finance Ministers Tsakalotos and Sapin: 2nd Review Must Be Concluded ASAP

The second review of Greece’s program must be concluded as soon as possible, French Finance Minister Michel Sapin and Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos agreed on Wednesday, during a meeting focusing on issues linked to the review.
The meeting was attended by Greece’ Alternate Finance Minister George Chouliarakis but closed to the press.
According to reliable sources, there was an in-depth discussion on all issues relating to the review and the two sides agreed that this must be wrapped up as quickly as possible.
The French press interpreted the meeting as the start of a new round of contacts by the Greek finance minister to persuade Greece’s partners to resume negotiations to speed up the review and release a new tranche of aid amounting to 6.1 billion euros. The French paper L’Opinion also referred to a planned meeting between Tsakalotos and European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici on Thursday, as well as possible meetings with the Italian finance minister and Eurogroup President Jeroen Djisselbloem.
