What Countries Have the Most Diaspora Greeks? (Maps)

A recent report by the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad (GSGA) has documented that over 5 million people make up the Diaspora Greek population around the world.
The data showed that people of Greek origin live in 140 different countries — the majority, 3 million, in the U.S. Throughout Europe there are 1 million Greeks, including those living in former Soviet states.
The diaspora community is also thriving in Australia and Canada with 700,000 and 350,000, respectively.
As the economic crisis has impacted Greece making life difficult, many Greeks have chosen to settle in both the U.S. and Australia, according to residence visas which show that since 2010 Australia has accepted 9,000 people from Greece while the U.S. has distributed 6,340 residence visas to Greeks. Also other countries such as Holland and the UK have seen 12,000 and 55,000 Greeks arrive, respectively, according to data collected.
