Number of Recorded Migrants and Refugees on Islands Drops Below 10,000 for First Time

The number of refugees and migrants stranded on the northern Aegean islands dropped, for the first time, below 10,000 on Wednesday.
The decline is attributed to the low flow to the islands and the acceleration of the asylum requests procedure.
No arrivals were reported for the second consecutive day and according to police 9,987 people seeking asylum have requests that have not yet been examined and are still stranded on the islands as of Wednesday morning.
