European Commission President: "Greeks Made More Reforms than Northern Europeans"

No country in Europe has achieved more progress than Greece on the issue of competitiveness, said European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Saturday.
The European Commission president spoke on  German public radio Deutschlandfunk (DLF) where, inter alia, he said that, “Mostly in Germany, people speak as if they were fully acquainted with the situation in Greece. But they do not know. Because Greeks, despite any dissatisfaction about the situation, they did many structural reforms, more than the dogmatic northern Europeans. And the tone used in opinions published mainly in 2014 and 2015, did not correspond in any way to the Greek efforts. I am also of the opinion that Greece has not reached the end of its efforts. But claiming that Greece has done nothing, is wrong.”
When asked whether the third aid package for Greece is standing on clay feet, Juncker replied: “It is standing on unsteady legs in the sense that we do not see how the International Monetary Fund would handle this problem. No country has achieved more progress on the issue of competitiveness. And it was not Greece the country that lowered the retirement age, it was another country.”
