Young Driver without License Runs Down 14-Year-Old Girl in Northern Greece

An 18-year-old driver without a license ran down and killed a 14-year-old girl in Alexandreia town, in northern Greece, on Friday.
The accident happened at 8:00 pm on El. Venizelos Street of Alexandreia. The girl, Katerina Kyropoulou, was trying to cross the road when she was hit by the car.
The 14-year-old was transferred to the Veroia Hospital and then to the AHEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki where she died a little after midnight.
According to local police the 18-year-old driver did not have time to react when he saw the girl crossing the street because he was driving too fast. The skid marks left by the tires indicate that, police said.
The driver was not licensed to drive, police said. He is held at the Alexandreia Police Department and will be taken to the Prosecutor on Monday.
