A meeting between IMF Chief Executive Christine Lagarde and Euclid Tsakalotos took place on Friday afternoon within the framework of the Spring Fund Summit in Washington and lasted about 40 minutes.
Up for discussion was the reduction of the Greek debt, the Memorandum and the return of the institutions to Athens. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Finance Minister George Chouliarakis, the head of the European fund sector, Poul Thomsen and Delia Velculescu
“The meeting went very well, the details of the Memorandum was examined as well as the return of the institution to Athens and how the technical agreement and the debt issue will be resolved,” the Greek Finance Minister said to reporters.
Head of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde described the meeting with Tsakalotos on Friday as “Constructive.” She pointed out that the return of institutions to Athens will be taking place in order to “discuss the two legs of the Greek program: policies and debt relief.”
