Tragedy in Thessaloniki: Greek-Cypriot Student Trying to Escape Football Hooligans Ends Up Brain Dead

On Wednesday the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reported that a Greek-Cypriot student studying in Thessaloniki has been declared brain-dead after being hit by a car while trying to escape football hooligans who were attacking the other team’s fans.
The incident took place last week on Thursday evening after the student had gone to the stadium to watch his favorite football team, PAOK, play in Thessaloniki and according to the CNA, he was hit by a car when he was running away from a group of hooligans who supported the other team.
He was declared brain-dead when he arrived at the hospital.
