Island Feast on Mykonos With Traditional Songs and Dances (video)


The islander Glendi (Γλέντι:Party) was set up in Mykonos, Greece’s island of the Winds. Organizing the event was the Mykonian Vegera Traditional Dance Workshop together with the Apollonius Mykonos Group.
The official guest of the event was Naxos born singer Stella Konitopoulou, one of the most well-known artists that embodies the traditional island songs of Greece, who stirred up the audience with her unique performance. Dancing alongside the singer were groups from the Experimental Dance Workshop of Mykonian Vegera and the Union of Cretan Saints Anargyroi.
Honorary plaques for their many years of contribution to the preservation and dissemination of the musical tradition of Mykonos were awarded to the Mykonian musicians Michalis Kounanis and Lefteris Sikiniotis.
Those who attended the event joined in on the dancing and fun and were offered traditional treats from Mykonos Farmers, the Viomas-Asimomitis Estate and Mythos Philosophy.
