New Democracy Chief: 'Greece Imprisoned in Mr. Tsipras' Lies'

Greece is imprisoned in Mr. Tsipras’ lies” and there has never been a government that has swindled Greek people like the current administration did, said New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday.
Addressing the New Democracy Parliamentary Group, Mitsotakis said that SYRIZA’s rise to power relied on three big lies: The first was that they would put an end to austerity and tear up the memoranda papers; the second was that they claimed they are patriots; the third was that they would fight the old political system and put an end to corruption. Then they did the exact opposite of all three, the conservative party chief said.
“Greece is imprisoned in Mr. Tsipras‘ lies,” the ND president pointed out, saying that, “It is our responsibility to liberate society from a government that has lost all credibility.”
They won the election promising relief of 12 billion euros and now they have voted measures worth 12.5 billion. They strained the country. They promised they would put an end to the “old” and corruption and proved to be older and more corrupt,” Mitsotakis said.
More specifically, the conservative politician said, Greek people lost two pensions and one salary per year under the new measures.

On corruption and clientelism, Mitsotakis said that, “
Political opponents are systematically slandered while at the same time government officials travel with learjets of questionable people and give away tens of millions of euros with bill amendments to set up new client relations. All this is a picture of absolute amoralism. Greece will not become a (Nicolas) Maduro country, as we see that Mr. Tsipras avoids to condemn what is happening in Venezuela,” Mistrotakis continued.
