After a man facing several misdemeanor charges, including unlawful shooting, illegal handgun possession and resisting arrest fired three shots from a handgun into the air while talking to the press, he has been handed down a punishment by the Greek courts on Friday of a two-year suspended sentence.
The man said that his actions were in efforts to attempt to scare the killers of his 26-year-old relative, Marios Papageorgiou, who went missing five years ago and has since been presumed dead.
He said that he wanted to frighten the killers into telling him where the body is buried in order to give Marios a proper burial.
He also added that he fired the handgun in protest to the court’s decision to postpone the appeal until March 2018.
