New Democracy continues to lead the race by 10% in opinion polls, according to the latest survey conducted by Prorata on behalf of Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper.
The poll suggests that the main opposition party leads in potential electoral influence with 30% (from 33% in March) with SYRIZA trailing behind at 20% (from 19% in March).
Specifically, the preference expressed by participants is as follows:
New Democracy 30%
SYRIZA 20%
Democratic Coalition 11%
Golden Dawn 9%
KKE 9%
Centrists Union 8%
To Potami 7%
Independent Greeks 5%
Undecided 24%, while abstinence, white and invalid ballots accounted for 17%.
To the question of whether citizens want early elections within the next six months, 61% of respondents answered negatively, 32% positively with 7% saying “do not know / do not answer.”
Respondents also view the agreement between the government and creditors negatively with 72% rating it as “bad” and “rather bad” and only 14% as “good” or “rather good.”
Four in ten participants (39%) consider that the countermeasures the government has proposed are “significant / rather important,” 35% find them “insignificant / rather insignificant,” while 61% believe that the measures will not improve the economy, as opposed to 32% who believe the opposite.
Also, 63% of respondents believe that in the next year the country’s economic situation will be “little” or “significantly” worse, while 24% believe it will remain the same and 11% said it will improve “a little” or “significantly.”
Regarding household finances, 56% believe their personal financial situation will worsen “a little” and “significantly,” 34% believe it will remain the same, and only 7% believe it will improve “a little” and “significantly,”
In the battle of who is most suitable for prime minister, ND president Kyriakos Mitsotakis leads in most categories (industrious, uncompromising, less corrupt, effective, honest). However, 30% to 55% of respondents answered “neither” in several categories.
