Greek Actress Keti Papanika Passes Away at 75

Well-known Greek actress Keti Papanikou has died at the age of 75, after a battle with cancer.
Papanikou studied Drama at the National Theater and graduated with excellence. She studied with significant teachers such asĀ  Katina Paxinou, Anna Synodinou, Thanos Kotsopoulos, Dimitris Myrat, Lykourgos Kallergis, Eleni Halokousi and Alexis Solomos, while also pursuing studies in classical singing at the Athens Conservatory.

Keti Papanikou has been featured in more than 50 films, dramas, comedies and adventures and has been honored with the 1990 State Writer’s Award for her performance in G. Tseberopoulou’s “Ante Geia” film, and has acted in several TV series. The actress, who stands out for her ethos, goodness and progressive ideas, offered her salary to needy families. Her genuine concern for the public led her to the post of municipal councilor in Nea Filadelfeia. As vice president in the field of Culture and Sport, she made a groundbreaking proposition specifically to give her salary from the city council (600 euros) to families who really needed money to survive.
