Panathinaikos Wins Their 35th League Title in Piraeus

Panathinaikos found victory against Olympiakos in the last of the best-of-five matches for the league title on Sunday evening at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
With a final score of 66-51, the Greens, coached by Xavi Pascual, took the title.
Olympiakos lost the title in an upsetting match and as the final buzzer was set to go off about two minutes to the end, the Reds’ fans hurled flares and started a fire behind the Panathinaikos bench, causing the game to be stopped for nearly 30 minutes while the stands were emptied. The disruption is likely to cause Olympiakos to receive a stadium ban for next year.
The first period of the game ended with the Reds in the lead by eight at 11-3, and 19-14 at the start of the second quarter, but in the second half KC Rivers led the Greens to a 36-27 comeback.
The Reds started to lose their ground during the second half of the home match as Panathinaikos took a greater lead of 21 points making the score 48-27.
The fourth quarter started at 57-37, then halved to nearly 59-48, but 1:50 from the buzzer the fans invaded their home court, leading to the nearly half-hour delay and a final score of 66-51, clinching the Greens their 35th league title.
