Greece's Finance Ministry Launching 'Receipt Lottery' at End of June

The Finance Ministry will be launching a “receipt lottery” in hopes of encouraging consumers to ask for receipts and decreasing tax evasion. It is set to start in late June across Greece and the ministry has allotted 12 million euros to this project, according to sources.
The lottery will reward 50 customers in Greece each day who use their credit or debit cards for purchases at stores. It will work by placing each purchase in a lottery which, if they win, they will earn free credit for their next purchases. The amount they win is determined on how much they spend.
Also, once a week there will be a draw offering a credit of 500-1,000 euros for one lucky consumer who uses their cards for purchases.
