Airbnb Working with SolidarityNow on Free Refugee Housing Platform in Greece

The hospitality firm Airbnb and SolidarityNow on Thursday announced the launch of a new electronic “open houses” platform that helps people offer shelter to refugees and displaced persons in Greece.
Those wishing to share their home or offer lodgings free of charge can visit the site https://www.airbnb.gr/welcome/refugees and state their desire to house refugees. The platform also links Airbnb hosts that have declared their wish to accept refugees for a certain length of time with humanitarian, non-profit organizations involved in aiding refugees and other vulnerable groups.
The authorized organizations can then use the platform to book Airbnb housing free of charge for refugees and displaced persons in need.
As of Thursday, SolidarityNow will act as liaison between the owners, guests and Airbnb, undertaking to identify those benefiting and their placement in the accommodation available on the new platform.
In early 2017, Airbnb set a target to provide short-stay housing to 100,000 people in need throughout the world over the next five years. So far, 6,000 people around the world have volunteered to open their homes to refugees.
