Greek Minority Party to Participate in Albanian Elections

The autonomous Greek minority party “Mega” is to participate in the June 25 elections in Albania, according to the Athens News Agency.
The newly-formed party has practically no chance of making it in the Albanian parliament, as 3 percent of the total vote is required to win seats in the House.

However, Greek representation might be secured since all three major parties have candidates of Greek origin.

Greek MPs could be elected for the ruling Socialist Party of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the main opposition Democratic Party andthe third biggest party, the Socialist Movement for Integration, LSI.
There is also the Party for Justice, Integration and Unity, PDIU, which mainly lobbies for the rights of the Cham community, who are Albanians exiled from Greece after World War II.
