Public Hospital Doctor on Greek Island Found Guilty of Issuing Hundreds of Fake Blindness Certificates

A doctor accused and found guilty by a disciplinary board for issuing dozens of fake blindness certificates has been relieved of her duties at a public hospital on a Greek island.
In total it is believed that 235 diagnosis of blindness or visual impairments were issued by the doctor, resulting in recipients collecting over 150,000 euros from the state in disability benefits, ekathimerini.com reported.
The details of the case were not released to the public. It has been reported that the doctor was accused of issuing the fake medical opinions from 1989 to 2011.
It has also been reported that she is making an appeal to the disciplinary board’s ruling at the Council of State as she says that due process was not followed correctly.
