Prominent politicians, businessmen and members of the Greek American community attended the reception given by U.S. Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt for Independence Day.
The reception was held in the gardens of the U.S. Embassy in Athens on Monday.
In his address Ambassador Pyatt spoke of the strong bonds that unite Greece and the United States.
He said that the friendship between the two countries is timeless and based on the democratic ideals.
He added that he has visited most of Greece and that Greek people are intent to uphold those democratic ideals.
