Greek Man Arrested for Mailing Bullets to Politicians


Greek counter-terrorist officers arrested a 55-year-old man on suspicion of sending bullets and threatening letters to ministers, lawmakers, bank governors and Muslim associations.
According to police sources, the man is a former police officer discharged from the service in 2011.
He is suspected of sending at least 10 dossiers containing threatening letters and bullets over a period of four years.
Among the recipients of the dossiers were deputy minister Tryfon Alexiadis, journalist Yannis Pretenteris, former governor of the Bank of Greece George Provopoulos and Member of Parliament Leonidas Grigorakos.
Several cartridges were discovered during a police search in his house outside Athens, where he was arrested.
Criminal charges were filed against the suspect.
