A 45-year-old man who was spending the nights at an Athens psychiatric hospital killed his 45-year-old partner and returned to hospital to confess the murder to his psychiatrist on Thursday.
According to neighbors who spoke on Ant1 television, the woman was found dead in her apartment bearing multiple knife wounds. They said that the man who stabbed her was her partner.
Police said that the killer was indeed the woman’s partner, a man who was mentally ill and at nights he was sleeping at the Dafni Psychiatric Hospital.
On Thursday at dawn, he left the hospital, went to his partner’s house, attacked her and stabbed her to death, and then returned to the hospital. There, he found his psychiatrist, to whom he said, “I killed my partner.” The doctor immediately alerted the police, who arrested the 45-year-old.
Neighbors told reporters that the perpetrator had killed a woman in Loutraki six years ago. The 45-year-old had been convicted, entered the psychiatric hospital but from one point on, he went out in the mornings and returned only in the evenings so that the medical staff could monitor his condition.
