An impressive time-lapse video taken from satellite images shows the course of smoke from the fire in East Attica.
On Monday, whilst the wildfire was raging for a second day, the smoke was seen passing over Crete and moving into the Libyan Sea.
The video was made by Greek meteorologists who point out that “the powerful northern winds pushed the particles of smoke hundreds of kilometers away from Attica.”
In the second part of the video, there are time-lapse images showing smoke-filled Athens taken from a weather camera at Penteli Mountain, just north of Greece’s capital.
