Afghan Migrants in Greece Protest for Better Treatment

Dozens of Afghan migrants and supporting activist groups marched in Athens on Tuesday demanding better treatment, and a stop to deportation back to Turkey of those who are not granted asylum.
Men, women and children carrying placards demanded equal rights for all refugees, saying that they are war refugees, not economic ones. They claim that the asylum application procedures take too long and living conditions in camps are bad.
The protesters marched to the Migration Policy Ministry building first and then to the European Commission representatives offices, in central Athens.
The Afghan migrants claim that their country is at war and that they fled to save their lives. Some of them asked to be reunited with their families in other European countries.
They also ask for the cancellation of the EU-Ankara agreement, which calls for the return of those who don’t qualify for asylum back to Turkey.
