"Santorini Experience" Sporting Event Ready for October 6-8

One of the top sports tourism events in Greece, the third annual “Santorini Experience” for professional and amateur runners and swimmers, will take place in October 6-8.
This year’s Santorini event will start on Friday, October 6 with a focus on children. The 1km kids race will be held indoors at DAPPOS Hall in Fira at 10 am.
At noon, in the traditional Meet & Greet, attendees will have the chance to shake hands with Olympic tae-kwon-do medalist Alexandros Nikolaidis, Olympic track and field medalist Periklis Iakovakis, swimming World Champion Kelly Araouzou, and other Greek athletes.
At 3 pm, Nikolaidis will reveal the secrets of tae-kwon-do to beginners, and at 4 pm he will do the same in front of advanced athletes.
On Saturday, October 7, professional and amateur runners will run the 10km and 15 km races that kick off in the Caldera. Later, the 5 km race will begin, with its finish line at the desalination plant in island capital, Oia.
On Sunday, October 8, it is the swimmers’ turn to enjoy the “Santorini Experience”. The 1.5 mile (2.4 km) swimming race will start at 11 am at the volcano beach and finish at the old port in Fira.
The race will be held under the auspices of the Hellenic Swimming Federation and all safety precautions will be observed, under the direction of federal coach Nikos Gemelos.
