Greek Skating Champion Appeals for Funds to Compete on World Stage

Dimitra Korri; the 2017 Greek National Figure Skating Champion, has launched a crowdfunding appeal in order to be able to continue training and participate in international events.
Korri will be competing at her first Olympic trials at the 2017 Nebelhorn Trophy. She says that her goals for this year is to qualify for the European and World Championships.
“With your financial support I will be able to afford more training sessions and schedule more international competitions,” she says in her appeal.
She says that she never anticipated or understood the expenses that would come along with training at the elite level of ladies figure skating.
“It was not until my first Junior Grand Prix in 2011 that I started to realize that my competitive skating dreams could become a reality but that this reality would also come with a price tag,” the Greek champion says.
“I believe that Greece; as a nation that birthed the Olympic games, should be represented in all Olympic sports. It is my goal to bring honor to Greece through the sport of competitive figure skating,” Korri says.
According to the appeal, donations will help fund practice ice, coach’s bills, travel expenses, costume expenses, personal training sessions, as well as boot and blade renewal/maintenance.
