Unfancied Atromitos Retains Greek League Lead

A fairy-tale season for Atromitos; as the team maintains its place at the top of the Greek SuperLeague, with a 2-0 win at Xanthi and with 19 points from nine games.

In what is the unbeaten Peristeri club’s best top flight start in the team’s history, another three-point haul was secured courtesy of goals from Egypt midfielder Amr Warda, and French forward Nicolas Diguiny.

Atromitos is two points ahead of AEK, which won 1-0 at Panionios. Third-place PAOK, which hosts Asteras on Monday, is four points behind Atromitos.

Newcomer Lamia beat last-place Platanias 2-0 and Apollon drew 1-1 at Panetolikos.
