First Spartan Race Held in Sparta (video)

The first Spartan Race to be held in Sparta is taking place this weekend (November 4-5) in the legendary place where it got its name from.
The event is met with enthusiasm by locals as more than 2,000 athletes from 30 countries are participating in the Spartans’ historic “Trifecta” races at the place that inspired this obstacle and endurance challenge.
The athletes are competing surrounded by the rivers, mountains and ancient monuments of Sparta, the opening race will bring many different obstacles to the legendary city, attracting participants from more than 30 countries of the world.
Spartan Race is a series of obstacle races of varying difficulty and distance. They are held in the United States and have been franchised to 14 countries including Canada, South Korea, Australia and several European countries. The series include the Spartan Sprint, the Super Spartan, the Spartan Beast, and the Ultra Beast.
