Cars Fall into the Sea of Symi Island during Storm "Eurydice"

Cars have fallen into the sea at the port of Symi island, as storm “Eurydice” hit on Monday, causing minor damages due to the floods that followed and leaving the island without power.
The raging torrents swept 10-12 cars into the sea at the port of the island, Symi Mayor Eleftherios Papakalodoukas told SKAI television.
A Hellenic Coast Guard float with men from the fire department rushed to the area along with divers who searched for any of the  drivers who might have been trapped inside their vehicles the moment the torrent pushed them into the water.

According to an announcement by the Fire Department, “due to the intense weather phenomena that occurred in the afternoon hours on the island of Symi; under the command of the Head of the Fire Brigade Corps Commander Vasilios Kapelios, our Service is going by boat of the Hellenic Coast Guard from Rhodes with 10 firefighters and 9 pumping machines to help address the damage. An airborne team from the 1st ΕΜΑΚ (special unit for handling destructive phenomena) with their equipment is also on hand.”
The blackout lasted for hours and several homes were flooded. Deputy Shipping Minister Nektarios Santorinios is to arrive on the island today (Tuesday) to assess damages.
