The advance premiere of the long-awaited “Nikos Kazantzakis” movie, took place in Herakleion, Crete on Wednesday, in the presence of director Yiannis Smaragdis and cast members.
The long-awaited film about the life and travels of Nikos Kazantzakis, is out and will be released in Greece on November 23.
The premiere screening; which took place at the Odeon Talos, received an enthusiastic applause at the end.
Prior to the screening, the director was moved by the attendance and the welcome he received from the audience. He spoke to the audience about his effort to finally bring the film to the big screen, and described the process as “filled with tears, pain and love”.
Mr. Smaragdis made a special reference to the help of the Lempidakis family, and especially to Michalis Lembidakis; who was also present at the screening. “This movie was made thanks to you,” he told Lembidakis.
Lembidakis; a wealthy Cretan businessman, was kidnapped earlier this year, with his captors demanding an extraordinary amount of money from his family for his release. Finally; after months in captivity, a police operation resulted in his rescue.
Before the screening, the dance group that participates in the movie, danced traditional Cretan dances for the audience.
