Chios Island: Six Migrants Charged for Stealing Vegetables from Greenhouse

Six migrants who broke into a greenhouse on the island of Chios to steal vegetables, were charged with a felony and a misdemeanor by a prosecutor on Monday.
Police arrested the six migrants as well as the owner of the greenhouse who; after being notified by his father of the break-in, started shooting in the air to frighten the trespassers.
The six were charged with breaking and entering and of injuring the owner’s 75-year-old father; while the son was charged with the illegal possession of a firearm, and shooting without purpose.
All seven are being held by police until their court date on Wednesday morning.
The six migrants are staying at the VIAL ex-factory reception and identification centre; near the town of Chalkios, where the greenhouse is located on the eastern Aegean island.
