Greek FM Kotzias: Erdogan's Visit Creates Momentum in Relations

The visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday will not solve all pending issues between Greece and Turkey, but will help foster good bilateral relations, Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said in an interview with Sunday’s “Ethnos”.
Responding to a question about whether the visit; the first of a sitting Turkish president in decades, creates expectations for essential progress in bilateral relations, he said:
“A visit, as important as it may be, cannot automatically solve all problems, but can create positive prospects in relations between the two countries.”
Kotzias said people should not confuse analysis with foreign policy.
“The analysis; even if it comes to the most negative conclusions, is done to highlight the difficulties and not to resign from an active foreign policy.
“It is one thing not to have illusions about the difficulties in a relationship, and another to forsake any attempt to develop a positive relationship. And we want to work in this direction,” he added.
