Four employees of the state broadcaster ERT were asked to appear in front of a disciplinary committee to explain how the sound of a toilet flushing was transmitted live to thousands of viewers.
The incident happened during ERT’s live transmission of the authentic Marathon of Athens in November.
A journalist was heard asking someone for the directions to the toilet.
A few minutes later the sound of the flushing water was heard. At the same time, a producer was heard shouting: Turn off the sound!
The hilarious incident was commented on widely all over Greek social media.
ERT did not see the funny side of it though, and demanded that those involved face disciplinary action.
