Police detained 11 individuals and placed nine of them under arrest following violent incidents that followed a volleyball match between Panathinikos Athens and Ethnikos Piraeus at a volleyball court in Athens’ Mets district on Saturday night.
Eight of the individuals arrested are Greek nationals aged 16 to 39 years old and the ninth is an Albanian.
The nine are accused of involvement in incidents that began when supporters leaving the match came under attack, during which seven motorbikes were set on fire and five parked cars were damaged.
