Greek-Israeli businessman Sabby Mionis, donated 80,000 euros to the Greek charity “The Smile of the Child”, to reinforce the actions of the organization in times of financial and social crisis.
Mionis, Chairman of the Israel-Greece Chamber of Commerce, in his meeting with the Chairman of “The Smile of the Child”, Mr. Kostas Giannopoulos, was informed in detail on the actions of the organization throughout Greece.
After the meeting, Mionis said that the amount donated comes from the damages awarded to him by the Greek courts following anti-Semitic attacks against him, by a section of the Greek media.
He said that all the money awarded to him for damages would be donated to charity.
“I have committed myself that the entire amount awarded to me, amounting to several hundred thousand euros, will be donated to charity. Respecting the memory of my grandparents and the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust, I refused to succumb to bullying by my slanderers and their accomplices, including unfortunately, some state officials.
I shall continue to tirelessly fight against any form of racism. This donation is a message that, over the absolute darkness of bigotry, the sun of equality of all people and the smile of children around the world shall rise,” Mionis said.
