Abandoned Village in Crete Makes it All the Way to LA

An abandoned village in Crete makes it all the way to Los Angeles
Kalami, an abandoned village made of stone buildings, open doors, and broken windows, currently home to only 8 inhabitants, has made it to the finals of the Los Angeles International Film Festival.
Nikos Sarantos filmed “Kalami, The Face of Abandonment” using aerial filming technology. The short documentary portrays the ghost mountain village located in the prefecture of Heraklion, in the southeastern of the Municipality of Viannos.
The village, which is surrounded by a breathtaking scenery, lies at 480 m above the sea level. Despite the impressive views and the closeness to the sea, the inhabitants started to abandon the place during the early 70’s.
You can vote for this documentary on this page. The results will be made public on January 3.
