The B&M Theocharakis Foundation for Fine Arts and Music continues this month presenting an exhibition that focuses on Giorgos Seferis works. The event named “When the light dances, I speak fairly: George Seferis and his poetry through painting and photography”, is one more of a series of presentations dedicated to the most important Greek literary figures.
This exhibition, curated by Takis Mavrotas, sheds light on the artist life and work, as well as on the influence he has had on many other artists and their works of art. The exhibition presents manuscripts, personal items, and the Nobel Prize for Literature awarded to him by the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences in 1963.
There are also paintings by the poet as well as black and white photographs shot by Seferis himself during his years as a student. Other curious photos come from Seferis travels. This event also portrays excerpts from the poet’s texts about the work of the painters Panagiotis Zografos and Theofilos Chatzimichail, along with their paintings.
It is also possible to admire illustrations of his poems and works by several contemporary Greek artists that have been inspired by the poetry of Seferis.
The exhibition runs until January 21 at the B&M Theocharakis Foundation for Fine Arts and Music. It is open to the public from Monday to Sunday, from 10am to 6pm. The foundation is in Athens, at 9 Vasilissis Sofias Ave and 1 Merlin St. More information can be found visiting the website of the foundation.
